Suite dreams at the #dwelloctoberstudio church to condo revival
Our goal with the bedroom and bathroom renovation at the #dwelloctoberstudio church to condo revival project was to create a space that felt like a chic Parisian hotel room. This was no small task based on the fact that we were starting with a beige, windowless builder-grade bathroom.

A stunning large-format calacatta viola marble-look tile served as the catalyst for the bathroom design. Since we wanted this tile to be the focal point of the bathroom, we decided to convert the tub/shower combo to a walk-in shower, apply the tile to the shower walls to achieve the dramatic look of a luxe marble slab at a fraction of the cost, and frame everything with a beautiful arch. Space was limited in this small en-suite bathroom, so we opted to install a fixed panel of curved glass to keep the water inside the shower.

A rich plum-colored hexagon mosaic serves as the floor tile in both the shower and the rest of the bathroom and amplifies the moody feel of this space. A dark wood vanity with rounded corners and fluted detailing feels more like a piece of furniture than a typical vanity. An organically-shaped wavy mirror, single sconce, and brass plumbing fixtures add a touch of glamour.

As the bathroom is also home to the laundry and a closet with the mechanical systems, we upgraded the appliance for a sleeker model and switched out the boring slab door for a pretty cane bi-fold option.

With just one window and low ceilings compared to the rest of the unit, we knew we needed to add some drama to the bedroom. First, we color drenched the room with the same dusty shade of blue paint used throughout the rest of the unit. The blue walls paired beautifully with the existing dark wood floors.

Next, we added functional storage by installing two Ikea wardrobes and painting them blue to match the walls. We upgraded the standard Shaker doors by cutting out the panels and inserting cane webbing. The addition of the wardrobes helped to camouflage the existing soffit, while also adding storage, which is always limited in a small space.

An elegant brass and milk glass semi-flush mount light and neutral furnishings transformed this basic bedroom into a cozy, inviting space.

The room contains just a single window, so we flanked the window with large, rectangular works of art to create the illusion of more windows. The feminine, modern art completes the room, adding personality and making the bedroom feel chic.
