Pink and green, it’s a #preppyhollowhouse thing
Located off the main hallway, the guest bathroom at the #preppyhollowhouse was an interior bathroom, meaning that it had no windows and therefore, no natural light. As a result, we aimed to create a bold and bright design full of color in order to give the space a playful personality.

As the new design for the rest of the house has a retro, preppy vibe, we opted for a pink and green color scheme for the guest bathroom, starting with the light green penny tile flooring. For the shower wall tile, we chose a simple white field tile, but used a custom coral grout to make a statement.

A new white tub and brushed gold plumbing fixtures give the shower a clean, modern look. Because space was limited in this bathroom, we installed a glass divider to keep the water in the shower while maintaining an open, airy feel.

Following this same principle, we opted for a console sink rather than a heavy vanity. This console sink has brushed gold legs that match the plumbing fixtures and a modern, rectangular shape. To contrast with the boxy silhouette of the sink, we added a wavy wooden mirror and a cone-shaped pink sconce.
Made by a Boston-based artist, a shadow box collage featuring matchbooks from local Cape Cod restaurants and bars adds a fun touch to the space. A rattan wastebasket and a hand towel with green scalloped embroidery provide the finishing touches.

This colorful bathroom proves that small doesn't have to be boring. By using color in unexpected ways, such as for the floor tile shower grout, this bathroom strikes a balance between playful and timeless. And even when natural light is limited, don't be afraid to use bold colors!
