The suite life at the #preppyhollowhouse
The primary suite was one of the first spaces we designed for the #preppyhollowhouse. From the outset, we envisioned using hydrangea print wallpaper from Rifle Paper Co. for a classic Cape Cod-inspired retreat. We installed vertical shiplap paneling onto the lower portion of the wall, and painted this paneling, the trim, and doors a custom shade of green that we color matched to the hydrangea leaves.

A rattan Chippendale headboard and vintage blue nightstands with a petite silhouette add lightness to the space without detracting from the wallpaper. Green and chrome wall sconces with a pretty scalloped detail provide light and complement the floral motif of the wallpaper.

A fresh coat of green paint and new light blue upholstery brought new life to a vintage Chippendale bench, creating a convenient spot for guests to store belongings or sit for a moment.

The bedroom features a small en suite bathroom that originally had a tub/shower combo, which we chose to convert to a large walk-in shower. We created a fun blue and white striped pattern on the shower walls using basic white subway tile paired with a longer blue rectangular tile that we cut down to size.

Blue and white hexagon flower floor tile adds a playful element to this bathroom and coordinates with the floral wallpaper in the bedroom. A white oak vanity, green faux-cane mirror, and blue sconce add the finishing touches to this small, but functional en suite bathroom.

While we love a classic blue and white color scheme, introducing a soft shade of green into this space adds another layer to this design and keeps things from feeling too on the nose. This pretty, pastel primary suite has a light and airy feeling perfect for setting a relaxing tone during vacation.
